23 Dec How to Register a Marriage at the Italian Consulate?
If you’re wondering how to register your marriage certificate at the Italian Consulate General, read on!
For Couples Married in the UK
If you were married in the United Kingdom, you will need to submit the necessary documents to register your union in Italy. The procedure is handled through the Italian Consulate General in London.
Required Documents:
- Application form: Downloadable from the Consulate’s website, where you will enter your personal information.
- Photocopy of the passport pages showing the photo and signature of both spouses.
- Original marriage certificate.
- Complete translation of the marriage certificate, including an Apostille.
Remember, the Italian Consulate General does not provide translation services. That’s where we come in! For many years, Words at Hand has been included in the official registry of translators for the Italian Consulate! Be sure to have the original UK-issued certificate legalized with an Apostille, as required.
For Marriages Outside the UK
If you were married in a foreign country other than the UK, the process is slightly more complex. In such cases, you must contact the Italian diplomatic or consular authority in that country.
What is the Translation Process?
It’s straightforward! Simply send us a photo or scan of the certificate via email, and we will translate it for you. Note: The Apostille itself will not be translated.
The translated documents will be sent to you by post, and you’ll receive them within 1–2 business days!
