23 Dec How to Register a Birth at the Italian Consulate
If you’ve found this page, it likely means you’ve just become parents and are feeling a bit intimidated by the bureaucratic process. Don’t worry! In this article, we’ll explain all the steps to register a birth at the Italian Consulate.
Step 1: Download the Required Form
You’ll need to download and complete the form available at the following link:
Birth Registration Request Form.
Step 2: Gather the Necessary Documents
Along with the form, you’ll need to include the following:
- A photocopy of the parents’ passports, showing signature and photo.
- Original Birth Certificate with Apostille.
- An Italian translation of the Birth Certificate.
If your marriage or civil partnership has not yet been registered in Italy, you’ll also need to attach the marriage certificate. If the registration is already completed or the marriage took place in Italy, a photocopy of the certificate will suffice.
Step 3: Submit Your Documents
Send the completed form and all required documents by post to the Consulate General of Italy. Please note that the certificates will not be returned, as they will be kept on file at the consulate.
