23 Dec How to Practice as a Doctor or Surgeon in the UK?
Have you earned your degree in Medicine and Surgery in Italy but dream of pursuing your profession in the United Kingdom? It may sound surprising, but the process is actually quite straightforward!
For a medical degree, the title benefits from automatic recognition. Once you have obtained your degree and professional qualification (remember that medical degrees in Italy are now self-certifying for qualification), you only need to start the registration process with the official registers. The most challenging part might be choosing which register is most suitable for you. Depending on the level of specialization achieved in Italy, you can choose among:
- Full Registration, for those who want to become a licensed doctor (graduated in Italy but not yet qualified).
- Specialist Registration, for those who wish to begin a specialization (CCT = Certificate of Completion of Training) (graduated and qualified in Italy).
- GP Registration, for those aiming to become a general practitioner.
Applications must be submitted to the General Medical Council (GMC), and you will be required to:
- Specify your nationality.
- Submit your educational qualifications.
- Provide a certificate from the Italian Medical Association confirming your eligibility to practice.
- Take an English language test.
The documents related to your qualifications, as well as the certificate from the Medical Association, must be translated. Why not request a quote? We’ll be happy to assist you!
Send us an image or a PDF of your certificates, and we will handle the translation for you.
